Oh dear. Soon you will be home and I won't have your wonderful blog to start my day :(. On the other hand, it will be good to have you within phone and e-mail contact. Much to tell - after you re-enter and re-adjust to US time zones and society.

Wow! Everything outside looks so big and overwhelming. (How do the politicians and the bureaucrats keep track of it all?) Most things you've photographed inside (like the train soft-sleeper compartment) look cramped. The contrasts must be amazing... In 1988, I toured the western part of the Soviet Union with fellow planners (as far south as Tblisi and as far east as Baku) and we met with our architectural and planning counterparts. There we were exposed to vast outdoor spaces and often restricted to small indoor spaces, but nowhere near on the scale you're describing in words and images... Have a safe trip back; I hope you'll all be able to readjust to the climate and the scale and pace of living.
